Pretty Hair

I love Princess Emily’s hair…I love styling it in different braids and hairstyles. She particularly likes braided pigtails, but here I have just done a partial braid down the back…

When Will She Stop Being So Darned Cute?

July 31, 2012 at 8:46 am (Uncategorized)

I won’t even comment on how LONG it has been since I posted. I’ve been busy with The Homeschool Advocate and other writing.

She woke up this morning as Dave left and ran to get her goodbye hug. She misses him terribly when he is at work. But it was quite early, so she fell asleep again on the couch. And this is how I found her, just five minutes ago.

When oh when will she stop being so darned cute?

And, as of yesterday, guess who can tie their own shoes?!

Little Miss Awesomeness!

p.s. And she is teaching herself how to whistle. It’s true, my 5 1/2 year old daughter whistles better than I do.

Pancakes With Santa

December 4, 2011 at 5:36 pm (Uncategorized)

On Saturday we took Emily to Pancakes With Santa hosted at a local Applebee’s.

When we came in, it was during a lull, and Emily got about five minutes to talk to Santa, special one-on-one time with the jolly elf. Afterwards we sat down and had pancakes.

“So Emily, what did you talk about with Santa?” I asked.

“I told him all about my dogs and cats and the chickens and the bees.” She replied.

“Did you tell him what you wanted for Christmas?” I asked.

“No. He’s already got the letter.” And with that she set into eating her pancakes.

Here is the letter she dictated to me last month. And yes, the toys are already ready and waiting for Christmas…

And Just in Time for Halloween…

October 29, 2011 at 9:57 pm (Uncategorized)

Dave will be in class on Monday, so Sir Snickers-A-Lot will not be able to make an appearance for the first time in, well, years…

And after a recent purchase of a sword and shield from the Weston Irishfest, we decided to temporarily re-purpose Sir Snickers’ costume into one for Emily.

Tonight Emily attended her first official Halloween party…

Apparently, while at said Halloween party, Emily discovered a princess (Rapunzel from the movie Tangled) direly in need of saving. From what we heard from the other parents after returning from a nice dinner at one of our favorite haunts, 25th Street Brewery, it seems the girls bonded, despite having just met for the first time.

Can’t wait for Halloween night!

When One Hair Bobbly Just Isn’t Enough

The other day Dave was tasked with brushing Emily’s hair. She insisted on TWO hair bobblies – the ponytail holder and the large brown flower…

When I Grow Up…

July 26, 2011 at 7:11 pm (Uncategorized)

“Mama, when I grow up I want to be a fighter fighter (firefighter), a doctor, and a mama.”

Well Emily…you are on your way…

Look at that smile!

Sometimes Little Girls…

July 4, 2011 at 9:08 am (Uncategorized)

Sometimes little girls get hurt…

And need an “old man stick” (billy club) to help them walk around afterwards…

Sometimes little girls work just as hard as their mommies and daddies do…

And need a little bit of a rest between trips…

Sometimes little girls are just plain goofy…

And sometimes little girls love to help bake biscuits…

It’s amazing to think of how they started out…

And how far they have come since then…

While still remembering that while many things change…some things stay the same…

I still love watching her sleep.
